Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, Cost of Freedom Tribute coming to Big Bear Lake

The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute are officially coming to Big Bear Lake later this month. Organized in partnership with American Legion Post 584, this mobile monument offers veterans, families, and residents a powerful opportunity for remembrance and healing right here in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Dates: September 25 to September 28, 2026
Hours: Public viewing opens on Friday, September 25 at 8:00 AM and remains open through Monday, September 28 until 1:00 PM.
Location: Swim Beach, located at 41218 Park Ave, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315.
Admission: Free and open to the public.

The Traveling Vietnam Wall: An impressive 360-foot-long, 80% scale replica of the official Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It stands 8 feet tall at its apex and features the etched names of all 58,307 U.S. service members who gave their lives in the Vietnam War. Visitors are welcome to pay tribute, reflect, and make pencil-and-paper rubbings of loved ones’ names.

The Cost of Freedom Tribute: Accompanying the wall are smaller stand-up panels and timelines honoring American sacrifices across other major conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries, including WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Desert Storm, Somalia, 9/11, and the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
