The 2023 Polar Plunge has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 22!
Thank you for your generous support of Special Olympics! All registrations and donations will be carried over to the Plunge in April. We hope that everyone can join us, but if you cannot, you can allow all funds you raised and/or donated to remain a donation to benefit Special Olympics athletes throughout the Inland Empire or you may request a refund by contacting Victoria Tracey at vtracey@sosc.org or 562-502-1115. Please contact Abbey Leffler at aleffler@sosc.org with any questions.
Run, walk, or dance into the chilly waters of Big Bear Lake to raise funds for Special Olympics Inland Empire. For just a minimum of $50, you can participate in the coolest event of 2023 – the Polar Plunge. Not only will you brave the cold waters, but you’ll have the opportunity to earn incentives, party with friends, and be freezin’ for a reason: to help support Special Olympics.
Ways To Participate
Join a team, take the Plunge solo, or support the cause as a spectator. The are so many ways to participate in this wacky, fun event supporting persons with intellectual disabilities.

Support a Plunger – Want to support a friend? Make a donation.
Raise more than $50 for the opportunity to earn fun prizes! The more you raise, the more you can earn.

You can also donate an item to the silent auction or raffle.

Opening Ceremonies begin at 11:45 AM with the Plunge to begin immediately after.
How Your Donation Helps
Every dollar raised through the Polar Plunge will help fund Special Olympics Inland Empire programs in your community. Special Olympics is more than a sports organization, our athletes are twice as healthy as non-participating people with intellectual disabilities.
We also offer free health screenings, nutrition and wellness programs, and leadership opportunities for our athletes. Special Olympics Health is made possible by a generous gift from Tom Golisano and Golisano Foundation.
“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
The Special Olympics Athlete’s Oath
All Special Olympics programs are free to the athletes and their families. When people with and without intellectual disabilities connect on the sports field, hearts and minds are opened and barriers are broken down.
