Team Big Bear Fire will hold a Climb-A-Thon event in the city of Big Bear Village at the corner of Pine Knot Ave. & Village Dr., beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 18. This annual event will kick-start the teams fundraising campaign to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its battle to cure blood cancers. Show your community support and see how hard these firefighters work as they climb the “stair-stepper” machine in full gear for eight solid hours to support this worthy cause.
This is a “Fill the Boot” opportunity so drop by the Christmas Tree Lot in the Village and support your local firefighters by donating what you can. Additionally, Team Big Bear Fire invites the community to help in the battle against blood cancers by donating to their team online. Donations can also be made on the team page at www.llswa.org. Click on “Scott Firefighter Stairclimb” and donate to Team “Big Bear Fire.”
The Climb-A-Thon is a prelude to prepare firefighters for the near herculean task of climbing 788 vertical feet, in the “Scott Firefighter Stairclimb” in Seattle, Washington on March 12, 2017. Team Big Bear Fire will compete for the 9th straight year. Firefighters will climb 69 flights of stairs in Seattle’s tallest building, the Columbia Center Tower, dressed in full gear, including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
