Fairy Festival

Fairy Festival is fun for the whole family

“A” Garden Club of Big Bear will host its Fairy Festival in the Pines, the 3rd annual fairy festival, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 at Summit Christian Fellowship in Big Bear Lake. The event offers craft booths, face painting, ballerinas, games, vendors and much more.

For $10 per garden, not participate, so families or groups can work together on a single project and club members advise fairy garden fans on how to create the miniature container gardens. The workshop is open to adults and children, although children must be accompanied by an adult.

Artists, gardeners and nature lovers can enter a whimsical home for fairy folk in the Woodland Fairy Cottage contest. Entries must be made of woodland or natural elements such as wood, rocks, pine needles, flowers, pine cones, sticks, branches and pebbles and include a small treasure to be discovered.

Fairy Festival in the Pines is the main scholarship fundraiser for the club’s Carole Hassler Scholarship Award given yearly to a Big Bear High School student planning to pursue a course of study related to nature and the environment.

Admission is free. There is a $10 materials fee for the Fairy Dish Garden Workshop. Reservations are required, so please call (909) 585-8171.

Summit Christian Fellowship is at 41965 Garstin Drive., Big Bear Lake.
