Boot Scootin’ for a Purpose to mark Historical Society Golden Anniversary

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society marks its 50th anniversary this year. The group will host a fundraiser, “Boot Scootin’ for a Purpose,” to celebrate the landmark golden anniversary.

Boot Scootin’ for a Purpose kicks off at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 12. There is no cover charge, just plenty of good times, music and food.

For more information, call Wyatt’s Grill & Saloon at 909-585-3000 or Gloria Meade at 909-816-7431. For more information on the Historical Society, visit http://bigbearhistory.org/.

Wyatt’s is at the Convention Center at Big Bear Lake, 42900 Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake.

Festivities include contests an opportunity drawing, fun for the entire family, live music, food and drink specials, and birthday cake. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed cowboy, cowgirl and little buckaroo.

History buffs will enjoy being challenged by the gunfighter and cowboy quiz. Guests will be able to help Margarita Meade (aka Gloria Meade) get out of jail by posting bail.

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society maintains and operates the Big Bear Valley Historical Museum, 300 B Greenway Drive, Big Bear City.
